RCA BRAND HISTORY

The RCA which is an acronym for Radio Corporation of America and it was one of the pioneer company in the consumer electronics industry and is in existence since 1919.It was a major player in the electronic industry till 1986, and as it was after that it was not possible for RCA to survive on it own it was bought by GE in 1986 and all of it parts were eventually liquidated by GE and they transferred their rights to make RCA and GE brand consumer electronics products, specially Television sets, to the French company Thomson Consumer Electronics. Later Thomson sold the rights to the brand to Audiovox Corporation, first for consumer accessory products and then two years later for consumer audio and video products excluding televisions.

Now Thomson SA is known as Technicolor SA and it owns the right to manufacture RCA Tvs .
Technicolor SA licenses the RCA name to other companies for use on various products along 10 different product lines.

ON Corporation is the one who has a licensing agreement with Technicolor to manufacture the RCA brand of Televisions.

So ON Corporation a South Korean electronics manufacturing and marketing conglomerate is the one who sells RCA televisions through major retailers, including Walmart, Kmart, Sears, Best Buy and Amazon.com.
